His Wednesday must-watch (10/26)

I don't even think you needed to check in to know that my must-watch for the night is Revenge (10/9c on ABC). This show just keeps getting better every single week. How that's possible, I don't know.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I look forward to this show more than any other every single week. And I know I'm not the only one. Who will Emily take down next? How will she continue to cover her tracks so she doesn't get caught? Who killed Daniel, and why? When will Victoria break down? How long can Emily keep her identity hidden from Jack? I could go on for hours.

Instead, I'll just wait for the 10pm time slot tonight as ABC continues to fill in the answers (or open up more questions).

His Wednesday must-watch (10/19)

What am I watching tonight? Obviously Revenge, but that's been a must-watch for 2 weeks running so maybe it's time for it to take a break. You all know I'm watching it anyway.

So what else is on? Well, there's Happy Endings, which I did not watch out of the gate in the Spring, but have caught a little of this year. I think it's pretty funny, but it honestly hasn't made it to automatic "record" status quite yet. Maybe I'll check that out.

There's also game one of the World Series (that's baseball for those of you that don't like sports). Too bad this year the final 2 teams (St. Louis and Texas) provide us with what promises to be a complete snooze-fest of a series. So that's out.

Ooh! An E! True Hollywood Story about Casey Anthony. Umm...pass.

So I guess tonight I will turn my must-watch attention to a show that has so far come highly recommended from her, American Horror Story (10/9c, FX). Now I haven't watched the pilot, so I'll be going back to do some catching up, but from all accounts so far this show brings some disturbing things to Wednesday nights. I don't know how I feel about Connie Britton playing a role other than Tammy Taylor, but we'll see.

Her Wednesday must-watch (10/19)

I have to give props to my must-watch for the evening. Revenge (10/9c on ABC) brings it every single week. It's probably the most consistently good drama series, new or returning, out there. Every episode I look forward to seeing what new way Emily/Amanda will bring down someone who wronged her or her father in the past. And this seemingly sweet and composed wealthy little evil-doer never disappoints. Emily VanCamp = amazing casting choice.

It's also interesting to see a softer side of Victoria through flashbacks of her with Amanda's father. Perhaps there is somewhat of a heart-like-object buried somewhere down deep below the layers of Hamptons wintery ice? Though I don't see that ice melting anytime soon.

The part of the story I'm most interested in is, not surprisingly, the one that will be dragged out at least until the end of the first season. Who will kill Victoria's son and Emily's will-be fiance Daniel? And how will I feel about him being dead? The first couple of episodes, I fell in love with this guy and really liked him with Emily. But now a sweet guy from Amanda's past, Jack Porter, is turning out to be quite the viable and likable love interest numero dos. Plus, with what we saw last week of how Daniel acts when he's been drinking, maybe I won't miss him so much when he's gone come season's end. But I'll sure enjoy watching his beautiful, toothpaste-commercial-worthy smiling face until then.

His Wednesday must-watch (10/12)

It's Wednesday, which means two amazing things:

1) More than half the week is over

2) Revenge is on tonight (ABC, 10/9c)

I'm still a little shell shocked that I find this show so entertaining after being skeptical out of the gate. Here were are in the middle of October and it has gotten must-watch status for 2 consecutive weeks. That's crazy.

I really just can't get enough. If this show was on every night, I'd watch it. Is Emily going to run out of characters' lives to ruin? Yes. Will there eventually be an episode where we get more backstory and filler, and less devious scheming? Probably tonight. Will the show only be able to survive a season or two because the story line will get old? Maybe. Do I care anymore? Nope. Hooked.

His Wednesday must-watch (10/5)

I admitted I was wrong about this show at first. Somehow in just three weeks Revenge (10/9c on ABC) has vaulted from "I'll wait" to "must-watch".

Maybe it's the joy in watching the wealthy and spoiled fall from grace. Maybe it's the calculated way we get to watch Emily Thorne take the rest of the Hamptons to task. Or maybe it's just an appreciation for some good old vindication. Either way, this show is outstanding.

Through the first two episodes we have witnessed just how devious and vengeful Emily is, yet at the same time how resourceful and patient she can be. This is proving to be a dangerous combination as she picks off those who wronged her family one-by-one. And it's not in a lame or predictable way either. She's hitting them where it hurts most - their friendships, businesses, families and fabricated reputations.

The question isn't if she'll get caught. The question is who's next?

His week in review (w/o 9/25)

Well, another week is in the books, and it was a good one. Well, it was good for some shows. Some others? Not so much.

Worst 2^nd episode: This distinction goes to Castle. The super hero plot was brutal, sorry. And seriously ABC, we don’t care about Alexis and her class schedule. Does Beckett need to get shot every other week to make this interesting? This week it was as if none of that even happened. Total letdown. But hey, at least we got to see Martha dressed up as King Lear…

This show is doomed, and I don’t care: After two episodes ABC’s Charlie’s Angels is not in good shape (wow, ABC is batting a thousand right now). This week’s plot was pretty slow and I’m finding it hard to believe they are going to be able to keep this thing going. Because it is Angels, people will continue to watch for a few weeks, but unless they step their game up this one could be a goner.

Made me laugh: New Girl followed up a solid pilot with another great episode this week. I was definitely concerned with how the writers would handle the transition from Coach to Winston but they pulled it off. Schmidt and Nick put it solid performances again and are showing that they create a great team with Jess. Best scene was when all 5 (Roommates, Jess, Cece) all crammed into the car as they pumped Jess up to get her stuff back. “Schmidt happens”. Classic.

Please be better this week: Pan Am really needs to be better this week. It was decent at best last week, but I was hoping for something better. Like I said last week it’s a great concept for a show. I’m pulling for it.

Biggest miscalculation: This one goes to myself. I decided to go back and watch the pilot of Revenge this week on demand. This show is ridiculously good. I totally underestimated how awesome it is to watch someone take people who have wronged them to task. Especially wealthy people who think they are better than everyone else. News flash Hamptons – Emily Thorne is going to tear you down. And we’re all going to enjoy watching.

Her Wednesday must watch

Tonight's must watch? My initial thought was Modern Family. Then I smacked myself with my imaginary TV Guide. Coming off an impressive 5 Emmy wins and guaranteed to be hilarious, this show doesn't need any help in the viewership department.

So instead I lend my support to Revenge (10/9c on ABC), starring Emily VanCamp. You'll remember her as Rebecca Harper on Brothers & Sisters, who portrayed the sister of Dave Anable's character, and then somehow pulled off being his girlfriend, fiance and eventually wife after they found out they weren't related. Ick right? The funny thing is, it wasn't! And sure, the on-screen marriage, as well as their real-life relationship, may not have worked out. But anyone who can pull off that plot twist without making me want to vomit my prime time snack has a fan in me, so I can't wait to watch her as the evil yet possibly likable Amanda Clarke.

Revenge also features Connor Paolo - Eric van der Woodsen on Gossip Girl (xoxo!) - and is set in the Hamptons, which means awesome scenery, awesome fashion and deliciously-awesome attitude. Be sure to tune in!
