His Thursday must-watch

Apparently Ben Linus has been busy in his time off the island, racking up billions developing software and solving crime.

In all seriousness, when I heard Michael Emerson was going to be in a new show I knew it was going to be a must-watch. That's why tonight I'll be tuning into the new J.J. Abrams show Person of Interest (CBS Thurs, 9/8c). Sure the show has definite Minority Report plot ties, but CBS thinks this show has such potential that they moved CSI to Wednesday at 10pm to open the Thursday 9pm slot for this new drama. How's THAT for a welcome to prime time?

The duo of Emerson (who plays Finch) and Jim Caviezel (former CIA officer John Reese) will be fun to watch. And after LOST I have to give everything Abrams touches a look. Hope you all are tuning in as well!

  1. Agreed, with J.J. Abrams involved, I’ll definitely be giving Person of Interest a look. Oh, who am I kidding? I give everything a look.

Didn’t get a chance to see Ben Linus in action yet, though – I was busy catching up with Jin and Locke on Hawaii Five-0 from Monday night. Part of me is afraid to watch. You see, the character of Ben Linus will live on forever in my mind on this kind of – how do I put it – special island. Fellow inhabitants include the rest of the Lost cast, the gang from Friends, Felicity (the long-haired version), and of course, Pacey from Dawson’s Creek. On this island they remain perfect, frozen in time as their career-making characters. To watch and believe them as anyone else is almost impossible, and usually a cancellation waiting to happen. (Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip? Mr. Sunshine? And those are just the Chandler’s.)

What about Courteney Cox in Cougar Town, you ask? Well, Jules basically is Monica – just minus Chandler and plus a teenage son. Same obsessive nature (this time wine instead of cleaning) and same need to control things and the people around her. Also, same great figure. Pretty sure she drank some of that magic island water.

And what about Joshua Jackson (Pacey) in Fringe? Well honestly, I’ve never watched it. It’s too hard. What would Joey think? But I’m pretty sure there’s some kind of alternate universe going on in the show, so it may be possible for Pacey to still exist apart from this new Joshua Jackson character. So it doesn’t count.

Now, back to Ben. I’ll check him out in POI later in the week and see if my prediction is wrong. But I’m betting it’s not. You know you belong on the island, Ben. You must go back. You were practically born there.
