Despite an amazing Thursday night lineup that'll have my DVRs working to full capacity, tonight's must watch show has to be The Office, 9/8c on NBC. (That's what She said! See what I did there?) It was so sad to see Michael Scott fly off into the proverbial sunset - i.e., Colorado - for true love Holly Flax at the end of last season. It was even more upsetting that Steve Carrell never earned an Emmy for the role that shot him to superstardom (and Evan Almighty). Can I get an Amen, Rainn Wilson?
So just how will The Office fare without World's Best Boss Michael Scott? That in large part depends on new cast member James Spader. Will his character, Robert California, have the same incredible chemistry with the Dunder Mifflin group as he did with Shatner on Boston Legal? Will conservative Angela fall for his overly sexual banter and leave her gay fiance? Will Dwight's ridiculous antics kill him in the first episode? Will Jim continue to look knowingly into the camera, deep into my soul?
Well, that last one we know for sure. Yes, yes he will.
Of course it will be interesting to see what happens to Dunder Mifflin in the post-Michael era, but can we talk about James Spader for a minute? Seriously, what happened to this guy?
ReplyDeleteMaybe I just didn't watch enough Boston Legal to notice the progression but MAN! Has it really been that long since True Colors? Back then he was 160 pounds soaking wet. Robert California looks like he drinks 160 pounds of beer a week!
Where did it all go wrong, James? Gentlemen - take notice and put the beer down. Now.
